Deco is in contention to make his first start for a month against Roma on Wednesday.
After an impressive start to the season the Portugese star was sidelined by a thigh injury, keeping him out of the last five games.
Joe Cole and Petr Cech could also make a comeback after both players missed the weekend game against Boro.
Chelsea are still without Didier Drogba, Michael Ballack, Michael Essien, Ricardo Carvalho and Ashley Cole.
Roma look to bounce back from their 4-0 thrashing at home to Inter Milan at the weekend and are able to recall Phillippe Mexes and former Chelsea defender Christian Panucci after both players served a domestic ban. They also have captain Franceso Totti fit to start after coming through his first start since April in their previous game.
A win tomorrow will put Chelsea in a strong position to qualify for the next round with seven points from the first half of games.
